After two short flights of street steps, the house is approached through wrought iron gates to the side of the garden. The entrance door opens to a large reception hall that features a beautiful arch, stairs to the top floor (and a WC at the bottom) and the principal bedroom off the hall.

The stairs open to a magnificent Loggia summer sitting room. It's open to two sides with well-established Wisteria trained around the posts that support the beautiful, high wooden ceiling. The views from the Loggia are far-reaching overlooking the town, the east side of the amphitheatre mountains that embrace the town, and the harbour and sea.


From the Loggia, double glazed-doors open to the winter sitting room with a fireplace. 


Bedroom 2 is a corner room off the winter sitting room and has a private terrace with a semi-enclosed shower and hand basin, and storage cupboards.

The surrounding homes buffer Xelidonia from the sound of Sunday bells and the daily chimes of the harbour Cathedral. And because there are very few holiday rentals and no guesthouses nearby, you won't hear the noise of tourists dragging their suitcases.


For dining out, the closest places are the Douskos (Xeri Elia) or Geisemi (Jasmin) Tavernas. All supermarkets deliver to the house.

Observations

I know this house very well and have always been fond of it. It's in an oasis of greenery with gorgeous, picturesque views to the sea in the harbour and across the valley to the mesmerizing colour changes of the sun setting on the backdrop of the mountains that embrace the east side of the amphitheatre.


My recommendation is to use the house, which is definitely very livable as it is, to get a proper feel for all seasons before any alterations are made. I suspect that new owners will end up not wanting to change much as this is such a glorious property as it is.


It has been a popular holiday rental for years during the periods when the owners were not at home.
